CFB Relevant Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026. No ads, no tracking, no account required.
CFB Relevant shows which college football games matter to the teams you follow. We built it to work without requiring an account, advertising, or tracking.
What we collect
You can browse scores and schedules without an account or sign-in. We do not use ads or analytics trackers. Optional features below process limited information needed to operate.
Pick'em (only if you use it). When you create or join a Pick'em group, we store the display name you type, your picks, your tiebreaker guesses, and (in the app) the names of your favorite teams, so the group can see standings. Use a nickname if you like. Your device keeps a random secret key that identifies you in that group; we store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it. Other members of the group see your display name, standings and, once games start (or earlier if the group allows), your picks. To have your Pick'em data deleted, email us the group link and your display name.
What stays on your phone
Your favorite teams, My Saturday picks, theme and spoiler settings, and recently loaded scores are stored on your device. If you enable live alerts or join a Pick'em group, the relevant selections may also be sent to our server as described here. Uninstalling removes locally stored settings.
Network requests
To show scores, schedules and rankings, the app downloads public college football data from our data server or from CollegeFootballData.com, and team logos from CollegeFootballData's image server. These requests contain only what data is being asked for (for example, a team name or week). Like any web request, they include your device's IP address, which those servers may briefly log for security and reliability. We do not use it to identify you.
The app checks Expo (expo.dev) for app updates. That request includes technical details (the app version, the device's operating system) and a random installation ID that is not linked to you. It is used only to deliver the right app update.
Live alerts (only if you allow notifications). To send alerts while the app is closed (scores, close finishes, upsets, finals, the game-day lineup), the app sends our server your phone's push notification token (a random ID: on Android from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, on iPhone from Expo's push service), your notification choices, your favorite teams, the games on your Watch List, and your time zone offset. Alerts are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or Expo's push service and Apple Push Notification service (iPhone). Turning notifications off in the app or uninstalling it stops alerts; tokens from uninstalled apps are deleted automatically.
The Find This Game feature checks ESPN's public watch listings for the game you are looking at. That request contains only the game's ID.
Other public sources the app reads directly. These requests ask only for public content (a game ID, a team or stadium name, a search phrase) and, like any web request, include your device's IP address:
- ESPN's public data feeds, for live game details, close finishes and news headlines; Google News and ESPN Press Room feeds, for headlines.
- Open-Meteo, for game-day weather at the stadium. It receives the stadium's location, never yours.
- Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, for stadium photos and TV network logos, sometimes loaded through the images.weserv.nl image service.
Trip planning (only if you use "Best games left"). To show flight prices, the app sends the airport codes nearest the home city you entered and nearest the game, plus the travel date, to our server and to Travelpayouts (Aviasales). Your home city itself stays on your phone.
Sharing and suggestions (only when you tap them). When you share a game card, the app sends that card's content (teams, scores, reasons) to our server to create a share link; sharing a Pulse moment sends only its ID. When you suggest a fan message board, it sends the team name and the link you typed. None of these include your name or contact details.
Links such as "Where to watch" and "Highlights" open other websites and apps (for example, ESPN or YouTube), which have their own privacy policies.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
